Our Programs

Play and Learn School has four different age programs; Toddlers, Preschool, Pre- Kindergarten and Before & After-School programs with options for 5, 4, 3, or 2 days with three time schedules;

  • Full-time: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

  • School day: 8:30am – 3:30 pm

  • Morning session: 8:45am -11:45am

The school provides three nutritious snacks (one morning and two afternoon) and a hot lunch for school day, full-time, and Kindergarten children.

At Play and Learn School, there are three separate playgrounds developmentally appropriate for the age groups it serves (the Pre-Kindergarten and Before & After-School program use the same playground at different scheduled times). Pre-K age groups also use our courtyard area once per week with their classrooms. The courtyard features 4 seperate thematic areas (Building Block, Office, & Car repair area), picnic tables and small grass area.

Our school has many rich materials that enable our children to explore, experiment and problem-solve in areas of mathematics, science, social studies, language, large and fine motor skills and social and emotional interactions.

Toddler Program

(18 months -30 months)

Social and emotional development is a major part of our Toddler program. Our teachers provide a safe, secure and loving environment for toddlers, this promotes a sense of independence and self-pride in children. Through songs, books, finger plays and verbal communication with the toddler throughout the day, we set the foundation for future language development. We provide a variety of opportunities to promote maturation by the use of small and large motor muscles both inside and outside the classrooms. Teacher guided group activities and tactile experiences help to create an atmosphere to enhance social and emotional growth.

Preschool Program & Pre-Kindergarten Program

(2 ½ yrs – 3 ½ yrs) (3 ½ yrs until they start Kindergarten)

Morning preschool and Pre-Kindergarten is structured around monthly themes and are designed to foster all aspects of a child’s development. We provide lots of fun, updated materials and small learning groups. Through daily activities such as: circle time, art activities, math or science, motor skills and social study, we provide opportunities for progressive growth of each child’s social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language and creative development. Twice a week the children are introduced to the Fletcher Reading Program (a program that works on teaching the children the sounds of the letters before the name recognition.) What they learn is reinforced in the classroom and continued at home with weekly homework to include the parents in the process. These programs also have a S.T.E.M. program twice a week with a Miss Carla.

Before & After-School Program

(Kindergarten – 9 yrs)

We provide Before & After-School care for a limited number of children who attend Pleasant Hill Elementary School (PHE). A staff member from Play and Learn School will walk your child to and from PHE each day. In the after- school program we expand on the child’s already growing social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language and creative development by providing art activities, cooking projects, inside free play, homework time and outside playtime. Language skills and problem-solving skills are used during peer interactions, along with respect of individual differences that make us special.

“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.”
